ABOUT OUR APPRENTICESHIP
Are you willing to work hard and get paid well while being trained by some of the best instructors in the industry? If so, then you may have what it takes to become an Ironworker Apprentice.
Our Apprenticeship Program is a three-year program and administered by our Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee. The Committee consists of three contractor representatives from the Union Ironworker Employers Association of Central Pennsylvania and three union representatives from Ironworkers Local 404 who oversee certification, training and funding for the program. Our training is registered with the U.S. Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training and the Pennsylvania Apprenticeship and Training Council.
Unlike trade schools, you don''t pay us. You''ll be on the job earning a good living while you learn the trade. Current apprentices can start at $16.24 per hour and can earn up to $24.36, plus accrue health care and other benefits immediately.
There''s no getting around it – the work is demanding – and much of it is outdoors. There are requirements similar to those of other building trade apprenticeship programs:
· Minimum age of 18
· High school diploma or GED
· Good physical condition
· The ability to pass drug and alcohol screenings
· Have a valid drivers license and access to a car – many job sites are in remote areas not served by public transportation
